The Annual Texas Workforce Conference was held in Houston December 7-9. The conference was filled with great information and thought provoking discussions. Each year a the Annual Conference, the Texas Workforce Commission recognizes several Workforce Development Boards and Workforce Partners with performance awards. This year, Beako Manufacturing Company (Beako) received the Employer Award of Excellence for the Workforce Solutions Northeast Texas area. The award honors private-sector employers that are actively involved with Texas Workforce Solutions and have made a positive impact on employers, workers and the community. Texarkana College was also recognized and received one of only two Partnership Awards given for the entire state. This award highlights the important work of community colleges and other entities integral to supporting a skilled workforce. Texarkana Independent School District and the Bowie-Cass Adult Education Cooperative was also recognized and received an Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) Incentive award of $20,000. The AEL Performance Incentive awards recognize partners who demonstrate exemplary performance and outstanding AEL service delivery in partnership with employers, community colleges and Workforce Boards. Workforce Solutions Northeast Texas was recognized for outstanding board performance, receiving a Performance Incentive award for Claimant Reemployment for $30,000. The TWC Performance Incentive awards recognize boards that display increased accountability and improved efficiency. Monetary awards in these categories will be used to enhance workforce service programs during the next year.
