Northeast Texas Employment Statistics

The nine county Workforce Development Area unemployment rate for November 2016 was 5.1%, which is .1% lower than October 2016 (5.2%) and the same as November 2015 (5.1%).

Texas Adds 20,900 Jobs in November
State has experienced job growth in 19 of the past 20 months

AUSTIN Texas has added an estimated 210,800 seasonally adjusted jobs over the past year with the addition of 20,900 nonfarm jobs in November. The state has added jobs in 19 of the past 20 months. Texas’ seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased to 4.6 percent in November, down slightly from 4.7 percent in October.

 

 

Beako Manufacturing Company Honored at Texas Workforce Conference 

WAKE VILLAGE, Texas – Beako Manufacturing Company (Beako) received the Employer Award of Excellence for the Workforce Solutions Northeast Texas (Northeast Texas) area at the Texas Workforce Commission’s (TWC) 20th Annual Texas Workforce Conference held Dec. 7-9 in Houston. The award honors private-sector employers that are actively involved with Texas Workforce Solutions and have made a positive impact on employers, workers and the community.

 

 

Northeast Recognized at Texas Workforce Conference

Northeast Texas was recognized for outstanding board performance, receiving a Performance Incentive award for Claimant Reemployment for $30,000. The TWC Performance Incentive awards recognize boards that display increased accountability and improved efficiencies. Monetary awards in these categories will be used to enhance workforce service programs during the next year. Texarkana College, in the Northeast Texas area, was also recognized and received a Partnership Award. This award highlights the important work of community colleges and other entities integral to supporting a skilled workforce.

 

 

 

New Members Certified by TWC

Please join us in welcoming Shelly Braziel and Terese Kane to the Board.  The Texas Workforce Commission certified their appointment on December 5th and December 20th. Shelly is the Executive Director of the Lamar County Human Resources Council, Inc. and Terese is the Manager Training and Organizational Effectiveness for Campbell Soup. Ms. Braziel will represent the Community Based Organization for Lamar County and Ms. Kane will represent the Private Sector for Lamar County. Their terms end September 30, 2019.

Texas Workforce Commission sets Employer Rates for 2017

AUSTIN – The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) today announced the average Unemployment Insurance (UI) tax rate for all employers will be 1.64 percent for Calendar Year (CY) 2017, up slightly from 1.46 percent in CY 2016. The average tax rate for experience-rated employers is 1.51 percent for CY 2017, and is up from 1.30 percent in CY 2016.
