Career Pathways

Expanding Career Pathways for Students

The Student HireAbility Navigator participated in the “Paving the Way” Transition Fair in Mount Pleasant, connecting students with disabilities and their families to valuable career and post-secondary resources. Through collaboration with community partners, students were introduced to Pre-Employment Transition Services and workforce programs. By engaging employers and regional organizations, the event expanded awareness of career pathways after high school. The outreach effort strengthened partnerships and empowered students to prepare for future success.

From 2-Star to 4-Star Excellence

Stop N Drop Childcare Center continues raising the standard for quality early childhood education in Northeast Texas. After earning a 2-Star Certification in 2024, the center advanced to a 4-Star Certification in 2025 through intentional program improvements. Founded by Shatara in 2014, the center has grown to serve 65 children with a staff of ten employees. This achievement reflects a strong commitment to quality care and community impact.

From LVN to Registered Nurse

Asia, a single mother of two, received Child Care Assistance while working full time as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. With reliable childcare support, she returned to school in 2023 to pursue her Registered Nurse credential. In fall 2025, she proudly earned her RN license, expanding her career opportunities and earning potential. After reaching greater financial stability, Asia voluntarily transitioned off assistance services.

Doubling Income Through Workforce Training

Sakari, a single mother working as a Certified Nursing Assistant, sought to improve her family’s financial stability. Through WIOA-funded training and Child Care Assistance, she attended classes while ensuring her child was cared for in a safe environment. After graduating in December, she secured employment that doubled her previous income. Her success strengthened her independence and reduced reliance on public assistance.

SNAP E&T Leads to Career Success

Kari, a mother of four and primary provider for her household, enrolled in the SNAP Employment & Training program seeking stable employment. With job search guidance and transportation assistance, she actively pursued opportunities. Her dedication led to full-time employment as a Corrections Officer earning $20.13 per hour. This milestone provided increased financial stability for her family.

Veterans Connect at Regional Hiring Event

The 14th Annual Hiring Red, White, and You! Job Fair brought together 196 job seekers and 76 employers at the Texarkana Convention Center. Veterans received priority access to hiring managers and community resources in recognition of their service. Employers recruited across multiple industries, creating meaningful career connections. The event highlighted strong regional collaboration and workforce commitment.

Turning Healthcare Training into Opportunity

Bayleigh, a determined young adult, enrolled in WIOA-funded CNA training to begin a healthcare career. Although she faced challenges passing the certification exam, she remained committed to working in the field. Using the knowledge gained during training, she secured full-time employment as a pharmacy clerk. She is now preparing to begin pharmacy technician training.

Earning a CDL, Securing Stability

Kimberly, a single mother of three, turned to the WIOA program after months of searching for employment. With training and transportation assistance, she successfully earned her Commercial Driver’s License. Shortly after completion, she secured employment earning $23 per hour in the construction industry. This opportunity significantly improved her family’s financial stability.

Advancing from CNA to LVN

Tannie, a former Certified Nursing Assistant, sought new opportunities after losing her primary source of income. With WIOA support covering tuition and transportation, she enrolled in Licensed Vocational Nurse training. After completing the program, she secured full-time employment earning $24 per hour. This advancement nearly doubled her previous wages and strengthened her financial outlook.

After being laid off from his software engineering position, Randal relocated to Northeast Texas seeking new opportunities.
